I'm writing this entry while still on vacation. I'm nearby Philadelphia now, and I'm able to use the free Internet access with my dad's laptop. (Which works well enough, but still feel more comfortable with my own...)
From Sunday to Friday we were in Virginia Beach. The weather was good -- it was hot as hell but there was always a strong breeze by the beach and as long as you wore sneakers down to where you laid out your towels you wouldn't burn your feet. The only problem with the breeze was that combined with the strong current, the waves would beat the shit out of you if you weren't in the right spots. More than once I got knocked completely off my feet. On one of those occasion, I was somersaulted into another person, wiping them out too, and got whacked in the head with my bogey board. As a result, I'm getting over a decent-looking black eye. The bruise on my cheek has gone away nicely though. Although my face still hurts when I smile or laugh.
As I mentioned, I'm in Philadelphia now. My mom wanted to make a side-trip to some wonderfully historic site because 'why not?'. Everything was interesting enough, but the best part has been going to dinner this evening with my older cousins TJ and Chrissy and their two little kids (who are adorable, I wish I could see them more often).
Tomorrow we're coming home; my parents want to leave as early as possible so that they can see my dog. He gets so homesick when we're gone.
The end of this vacation brings across a bittersweet relization though; tomorrow is the last day of July, and the dawning of the end of the summer. While this is good in some ways, like seeing all my friends again and going back to Kent, it brings to light some other little problems:
- I made some goals for myself concerning writing and drawing, and I haven't reached them by any means
- The Stater has indicated that they're taking a more a 'serious' turn towards journalism, and emphasizing on photography over illustrating. I don't know if I'm going to have any assignments this autumn (Laura, I know your job must suck, but at least it will be reliable).
- I think I might be regretting joining Alpha Phi Omega. It's kinda fun, and it will look really good on my resume for sure, but do I really want to put the commitment into it? Community service is nice, especially at Happy Trails, but I felt pretty done with it after doing over 70 hours for high school graduation.
- Am I going to be able to stand Andrea as a roommate again? (Probably, she's not that bad, but last year Sam and Laura were pretty close by)
- Headaches and other (female) pains. I'm not even going there when poor unknowing little boys read this occasionally.
*Sigh*
Leave me comments please if you're not going to be talking to me online.
At least I get to put my two-weeks in for Lonestar!! ^_^

And you'll be close to Rosie's, guaranteeing plenty of chances of me stopping by.

Do you know if someone is moving into your space here?

I didn't reach my writing goals either this summer. God, I'm lazy. So don't feel bad.
You'll probably do the illustrations for comedy pieces. That's good, right? And you draw very seriously too so you may be off the hook. We'll see.
And this is the reason I never sign myself into an organization that *makes* me do stuff.
Why did you decide to room with her anyway? Why not Laura (while I'm thinking of her)? Besides, I'll visit when I can (have to figure out my schedule).
Female stuff? Yeah, me too, but this is the last day. (It was early).
I hope we do that Kent get-together thing. At the very least, I'll see you at training week. You, Laura, and I will all be there. So it won't be too bad.
